A Russian manicure is the cleanest-looking manicure you can get. It's done completely dry, with meticulous cuticle work, so your polish sits closer to the skin and grows out more neatly.
At Del Rey Spa in Pacific Beach, it's our specialty — natural, gel color, French tip and men's options, with no acrylics and no acetone.

What makes it different
In a regular salon manicure, your hands soak in water and cuticles are pushed back and clipped. In a Russian manicure, nothing is soaked. Your technician carefully lifts and removes the dead cuticle tissue dry, working right along the nail edge.
Because the nail isn't swollen with water, the shape stays true and gel can be applied very close to the cuticle. The result looks crisp for longer.
How long does it last?
Most clients come back every 3–4 weeks. The detailed cuticle work means regrowth looks tidier, so many people stretch the time between appointments.
Gel color is applied as a strengthening overlay that protects your natural nail. Removal is gentle, without soaking in acetone.
Is it safe?
Yes, when it's done by a trained technician. We use sterilized tools and a gentle, precise technique. Tell us if you have sensitive skin, a cut or any nail condition before your visit.

Russian Manicure FAQ
How much is a Russian manicure in San Diego?
At Del Rey Spa, the natural Russian manicure is $50, gel color is $75, and a gel manicure with hand-painted French tip is $125. A men's dry manicure is $60.
How long does the appointment take?
About 60 minutes for natural, 90 minutes for gel color and about 2 hours for a French tip.
Is a Russian manicure the same as a European or dry manicure?
Yes. You'll see all three names for the same waterless technique.
Does it hurt?
It shouldn't. The technique is precise and gentle. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell your technician right away.
